Advanced Baby Practice
To meet demand for those working with babies up to one year and wanting to develop their practice to advanced level, there will be a CPD course at Compass Point Children's Centre in Bedminster, starting in April. Advanced Baby Practice considers the overall needs of babies in depth. It examines relevant theory and current research, the roles and responsibilities of managers, supervisors and sole professional carers such as nannies and childminders. Practice with babies will be related to the themes and principles of the EYFS.
A Level 3 Unit Certificate in advanced baby practice will be awarded to successful candidates. 01/02/10
2010 Schedule Announced
We have now set dates for 2010 courses. The next scheduled starts will be in April for the Level 3 Diploma in Pre-school Practice as well as transitional awards between Playwork and Early Years and between Early Years and Playwork.
The new QCF Diploma in Playwork is being developed by SkillsActive to replace both the current L3 Diploma in Playwork and the L3 NVQ in Playwork from September 2010. We intend to offer this course, subject to it receiving QCF approval, as a series of workshops and guided self-study over one academic year, although until final details are available from CACHE, timescale, assessment details and cost can’t be confirmed. Until then provisional bookings can be made to reserve a place by a deposit of £20. 01/02/10
New CWDC Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
There are big changes planned for qualifications in the children’s workforce from September 2010. On 5th January, the Children’s Workforce Development Council announced that the existing full time Diploma may continue for September 2010 starters. This was already possible for the part-time Diploma in Pre-school Practice, which is open for registration until the end of 2010. CWDC has given assurances that current qualifications held or being undertaken will remain fully valid into the future and there will be no requirement for Level 3 qualified Early Years practitioners to take the new Diploma. 15/1/10
