Training Workshops Venue Autumn 2011

Having run our training mainly at Willsbridge Mill since 2005, we are now sadly changing venue, since the Mill is to undergo a major renovation starting in the autumn. We are pleased to announce our new workshop venue will be the Park Centre in Kingswood. This is an adult education centre with excellent facilities, including parking and café, just a couple of miles North around the ring road from Willsbridge.

New QCF Playwork Qualifications

We have now added two QCF level 3 programmes for playworkers. The Diploma in Playwork (NVQ)(QCF) is a full level 3 qualification for those wishing to qualify to supervise and plan a play setting. Prior qualifications are not required for this, but candidates must be over 18. The Award in Transition (from Early Years) to Playwork (QCF) is a short programme of self-study with tutorial support for level 3 Early Years practitioners who wish to add Playwork to their existing level 3 qualification.

Onwards with the QCF

In December, Ofqual endorsed an extension to some courses from the National Qualification Framework until December 2011. Even so, we believe it is now the right time to move on from the L3 Diploma in Pre-school Practice to offer its replacement, the L3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF). One of the benefits of this new Diploma is that qualifications gained will be registered on the national Learning Records Service. Successful candidates can continue to extend this Diploma through additional units in childcare for professional development or for additional roles like Social Care (3 additional Units) or Learning and Development Support Services (3 additional Units).
