This Diploma represents the full qualified status for a practising Playworker at Level 3 and qualifies successful candidates to be responsible for planning and supervising a playwork setting. The Diploma comprises 6 Units:
Unit 1 – An Introduction to Play and Playwork in the Lives of Children and Young People including the Principles, Values and Professional Context. This unit can be taken as a stand alone Award in Playwork and is suitable for those wishing to supervise holiday playschemes. Unit 2 – Ways in Which Playworkers Relate to, Support and Safeguard Children and Young People in Play Settings Unit 3 – The Playworker's Roles and Responsibilities in Creating and Resourcing an Inclusive and Challenging Play Environments Unit 4 – The Playworker's Legal and Managerial Roles and Responsibilities in Providing a Quality Play Provision Unit 5 – The Playworker's Role and Responsibilities within the Local Public and Professional Community Unit 6 – Reflective Playwork in Practice.
As well as attending Tutor-led sessions, some self-study will also be required. Assessment will be by multiple choice questionnaire for Unit 1 and the remainder by written assignments.

Experienced playworkers wishing to gain a full Level 3 qualification in playwork and those who are new to playwork but have experience of working with children in other settings.

Experience Necessary:
|
It would be beneficial to have completed a Level 2 Certificate or equivalent qualification in Playwork, and have a minimum of 50 hours recent playwork experience. Candidates should be working or volunteering in a playwork setting for the full duration of the course.

Outcome:
|
Successful candidates may progress to higher level qualifications, such as a Foundation Degree in Playwork or a B.A Honours in Playwork.
