CACHE L3 Diploma in PreSchool Practice

This course, is for those working or wishing to work with under-fives at a supervisory level in pre-schools, playgroups or nurseries.

Core Unit 1 – Understanding and promoting the development of pre-school children

Provides you with the opportunity to learn about the development of children and young people, birth to 16 years, and ways in which you can promote that development. It examines the theory behind the stages and sequence of development and goes
on to increase your skills as a reflective practitioner.

Core Unit 2 – Providing learning communities for pre-school children and their families

Helps you to understand your role in promoting partnerships and participation between yourself and parents or primary carers. Knowledge of appropriate curriculum frameworks will enable you to provide experiences that promote all areas of children's learning and include parents in this process

Core Unit 3 – Making the pre-school setting a supportive and safe environment

Provides you with a thorough knowledge of the factors to consider in creating a supportive and safe environment, which is stimulating and inclusive. You will learn about recent and relevant legislation influencing the pre-school setting.

Option Unit 2 – Working with children with disabilities and special educational needs, and their families in a pre-school setting

This option unit prepares you to create a fully inclusive pre-school environment for children with disabilities and special educational needs.

The course is assessed by written unit assignments and successful completion of all assignments is required to achieve the Diploma. There is no practical assessment in the work place.

Audience:

Anyone working at a supervisory level in a pre-school / early years setting or aiming to do so.

Next Course starting 21st April 2010 - Wednesday mornings from 9:30am – 12:30pm for 38 weeks in term-time.
Autumn Start: 7th September 2010 - Tuesday mornings from 9:30am – 12:30pm for 38 weeks in term-time.

Cost:

£995 – includes CACHE registration, materials and textbook. Ask us or your local authority about funding for this course.

Experience Necessary:

You must be over 16 and be able to study at Level 3. Candidates should have been working or volunteering in a pre-school or nursery setting for approximately 350 hours by the completion of the course.

Outcome:

Candidates will develop their pre-school skills and knowledge to the level required as a supervisor, as well as developing their own working practice. On successful completion of the assignments, candidates will achieve qualified status to work with under-fives in supervisory or management roles in pre-schools, playgroups or nurseries and be able to progress to Level 4 CPD, NVQ 4 EYCE or Early Years Foundation Degree.
