Course Description:
This Diploma is designed for those working or wishing to work with children and young people
between 4-16 years of age in a variety of play environments. Successful candidates will qualify to
work in a senior playworker role and should gain the skills, knowledge and understanding required
for Level 3, based on the National Occupational Standards for playwork.
It will run as a series of 11 half-day workshops for knowledge and understanding with workplace
visits and written evidence for assessment. Additional support will be given as one-to-one tutorials
and by email or telephone.
Learning Objectives:
Candidates will develop their skills and knowledge in Playwork to work at a supervisory level, as
well as developing and reflecting on their own working practice. Success in this award will qualify
candidates to plan and supervise play settings such as breakfast clubs, after school clubs, playgrounds and holiday playschemes.
Possible progression:
- Foundation Degree in Playwork
- B.A Honours in Playwork.
