1. Is there an alternative to doing an NVQ?
Yes, CACHE taught courses, known as VQs (Vocational Qualifications), for the same levels and subjects are equivalent to NVQs and just as valued in the workplace. See the DfES Children’s Workforce guidance on Qualifications.

4. Where can I apply for Funding
Funds, sometimes known as “Unblocking Barriers” funds are administered by Local Authority run Early Years and Playwork sections. These allocate funds to assist with training in priority areas, which can substantially help candidates meet the cost of early years and play training.

5. What qualifications would Ofsted expect of play and early years workers?
Generally, Ofsted expects people in supervisory roles to be qualified to level 3. Ofsted provides some publications which explain its view. National Standards for: - Full Day care - Sessional Daycare - Out of School Care
6. Who is CACHE?
CACHE is the Council for Awards in Children’s Care and Education. It offers a range of qualifications from Level 1 to Level 4, which are nationally recognised for working within early years education and play settings.
